The reservation issue —– yet again!!!

Stay on quota will stay: SC” screamed the headline of the TOI today… “Whoa, finally!!” was my reaction.. I was glad that finally, the Supreme Court in its “final” judgement, ruled out any possibility of the stay on 27% reservations for OBCs being implemeted in central educational institutions in the 2007-2008 academic sessions, being reversed.

But alas, as I was browsing the web in the afternoon, I came across this piece of news in TOI itself. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Quota_issue_Govt_to_approach_CJ/articleshow/1949461.cms

This article tells us that the centre plans to approach the Chief Justice of India to seek an early hearing on the OBC quota issue and hoped for a “just and compassionate” decision.

Just?? Compassionate????

To whom?? To the financially creamy, but ancestorally ‘backward’ layer of people??

For what?? For allowing them to eat up the fair share of the deserving ones??

It really really puzzles me, irritates me, angers me!!! The issue over how much interference the Government should have in our judiciary system is burning for quite some time, and it needs to be addressed soon!

Apart from that, I wonder what exactly are Mr. Arjun Singh, and his top-boss Mr.  Manmohan Singh trying to do…. Do they plan to increase their vote-bank by employing such goofy tactics??? May be, but why don’t they realise that even if the OBCs vote in their favour, they are going to be rejected by the other sections, those affected by this policy, and other rational thinkers, alike.

A lot has been said over this reservation issue, and a lot has been heard about it. But if ‘the’ Supreme Court cannot have the final word about it, then who can???

  1. The people and those represent the people’s voice…….. is my straight and simple answer to your question “But if ‘the’ Supreme Court cannot have the final word about it, then who can??? “, at the end of your article.

For a very few details, read further below.

Not just a few persons, however great their chair may be in this democracy, can become the final authorities.

It is all a stupid debate that goes on around the issue of the supremacy – of the Supreme Court or of the Parliament. Law, policy of governance, etc. need to be in the interest of the public and not only just in the interest but in the command of the people. It means, it should be as dynamic as the civil society – that includes the political awareness among its elements and the resolve and the organised strength. The political bodies need to carry this effect in the form of legislation.

The supremacy of Supreme Court is the foeman of demcracy. Though the judiciary and hence – and only hence – the supreme court also are important institutions in democracy, its supremacy on polciy making crushes down the entire edifice of democracy just to reposition it as aristocracy.

Anyway, it needs much more to introduce and conclude this very topic.

Let impetuosities be not at the command at least while considering the social issues.

For now it is enough to note that, one must be biased (conscientiously biased) with the history, the causes and long lasting impressions of it and historical developments.

  2. THE GORY ACTS IN THE SOCALLED INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING GET REVEALED.
Read articles in HINDU at: http://www.hindu.com/2007/05/06/stories/2007050609700100.htm

    and of YAHOO at http://in.news.yahoo.com/070505/48/6fdxj.html

Hence also the need of reservations gets proved. Not only just the need of reservations, but also the need of the persons from the lower castes at all the highest positions and also every position of recruitment.

HOW THE SCOUNDRELLS PLAY WITH THE PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS TO RESTRICT THEM AS THEIR OWN JAGIRS!!!!!!

ALL THIS, THEY CONTINUE TO DO IT EVEN AFTER 60 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE.

ALL THIS, GOES ON UNCHECKED FOR 6 DECADES IN INDEPENDENT INDIA AND THIS ERA OF MODERNISATION…… ROGUES……UNWORTHY OF BEING CONSIDERED AS HUMAN BEINGS….

YES ! AND 100 TIMES YES … IT NEEDS THORATS AND NOT VENUGOPALS…. IT NEEDS A BIAS – AN OPPRESSED CASTE BIAS TO LEARN THE TRUTHS OF HEINOUS ACTS OF UPPER CASTEIST FORCES.

COME …… PLUNGE……… PLUNGE INTO THE EXPLORATION AND UNRAVELLING OF SUCH GORY AND INHUMAN PRACTICES IN ALL THE PLACES OF SOCALLED HIGHER LEARNING AND HIGHER ESTEEM….

LET ALL THOSE WHO WANT TO START BUILDING A PRIDE TO OUR NATION, MIND YOU – NOT THOSE WHO FEEL PROUD OF THIS OR THAT ASSOCIATED WITH THE VARNADHARMA AND ANY BIT OF ITS RITUALS AND SCRIPTURES – SHATTER THE UPPERCASTEIST POWERS.

LEST, HISTORY WILL NOT EXCUSE US!!!!

  3. I dont think there is any upper class/ lower class distinctions to these issues. As far as I am concerned, this is same as the upper rich class paying huge amount of money as donations to the private colleges to get their seat. What matters more is, what they do with the degree, so obtained? It is true that the govt has to improve the standards of the lower castes. Then please start by giving quality education and exposure to them through the public schools and make them equally competitive at the college level. If the educational standards are going to be down because of these reservations, the public colleges would soon become like public schools, where neither the upper class nor the lower class would want to learn. We ought to learn from the French in these matters as they have really set high standards for public education and administration. The problem with India is, no one wants to attak the problem at grass roots and solve it. Neither the nethas (obv) but nor the public!!!!!
